Description
European Hornbeam (Carpinus betulus) is a fast-growing medium-sized tree that can grow about 40 cm per year. An adult is about 10 – 14 m tall and about 7 – 11 m wide. The leaves are green, cut. It falls gradually in autumn, often a part remains on the tree until summer. European Hornbeam (Carpinus betulus) is undemanding to the soil, tolerates droughts. It grows better in a sunny place, but it can also grow in partial shade. Suitable for forming hedges.
